Intersession Program
Every Monday, the instructional day ends at 1:15pm. Students transition to one of the following:
Nap at Breakthrough (for students who are in PK3)
Dismissal to families or caregivers
Dismissal to Intersession programs

Intersession Program Options
PK3 students can remain at Breakthrough to nap:
These students follow the same schedule Monday through Friday.
Students in PK4-Grade 6 can sign up for an Intersession program.
For SY26-27, Breakthrough offers the following:
Intersession 2026-2027
Students in PK4-grade 3 can enroll with Casa Lala at Breakthrough or Casa Lala’s Petworth location (transportation provided by Casa Lala to 1244 Taylor St. NW).
Cost: $102/month
Financial support for qualifying families.
Students in grades 4-6 can enroll in Young Playwrights Theater at Breakthrough.
Cost: $180 for the semester.
Financial aid available for families that qualify.
Students in grades 1-3 can also enroll with Dance Exchange. Dance Exchange staff meet students at Breakthrough and walk them to their studios at 7117 Maple Ave.
Cost: $270 for the semester
Financial aid available for families that qualify.
Families can also opt to enroll in Intersession programming with one of our community partners (see table below). Breakthrough does not provide scholarships for these programs and does not coordinate transportation. Families are responsible for registering their child and paying the corresponding registration fee.
