Intersession Enrollment

Intersession Enrollment for Winter 2026 will be shared via ParentSquare.

All families must complete enrollment or opt out of programming by December 16th. The Intersession form will ask if:

  1. My child will remain at Breakthrough to nap from 1:15-3:15pm. (Note: this option is only available to PK3 students, as well as PK4 students who take a daily nap.)

  2. My child will participate in Intersession programming.

  3. My child will not participate in Intersession programming or nap. A caretaker will pick them up every Monday at 1:15 pm.

Families can stay in their Fall programming if they choose to, or enroll in a different Intersession program by ranking up to 6 programs in order of preference.

Families will learn their program match during the week of December 15th and must enroll with their program provider before the Winter session begins.

FAQ

Is there financial assistance available for Intersession?

Yes. Breakthrough covers 100% of the cost of Intersession for students who qualify for free and reduced price meals (FARM).

Breakthrough also provides a 10% sibling discount for families with multiple children enrolled.

Breakthrough may offer partial scholarships, as needed, for families facing financial barriers.

I have multiple children enrolled at Breakthrough. Can they all be matched to the same Intersession program?

If families would like to keep all siblings enrolled in the same program, Breakthrough will do its best to accommodate this. Please indicate on the Intersession enrollment form that this is your preference.

Is aftercare available on Mondays?

Some program partners offer aftercare, and others do not. Please carefully review the information on different program partners to determine which programs meet your family’s aftercare needs. Breakthrough will prioritize matching students who require aftercare on Mondays with programs that provide it.

Is there a drop-in option for Intersession?

No. Students may not participate in Intersession programming on a drop-in basis. Students must be enrolled in the Intersession program in order to participate. Students who are not enrolled must be picked up by a caregiver on Mondays by 1:25pm.

Will the shuttle bus to Petworth still be available on Mondays?

Yes, Breakthrough will provide a bus from Takoma to Petworth on Monday afternoons at 3:45pm.

Is there an aftercare option for PK3 students who remain at the school to nap?

Yes, aftercare is available for PK3 students on Monday afternoons.
